With Tuukka Rask opting out of the NHL’s Return-To-Play bubble to be with his family, leaving the Boston Bruins in the midst of their first round 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Carolina Hurricanes, rumours have been circulating as to whether or not the Boston Bruins, the team which Rask plays for, will continue with his services heading into the next season.
Rask has one more year left on his contract, and was required to submit a trade list earlier in the season. With rumours as to whether or not he may even retire and go back home to Finland after his current contract, speculation has arisen as to whether or not we’ve seen Rask’s last game played in Boston.

The 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs are involving sixteen teams, which are the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, Carolina Hurricanes, New York Islanders, and Columbus Blue Jackets in the East, and the Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, Vegas Golden Knights, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Chicago Blackhawks, Arizona Coyotes, and Dallas Stars in the West.
The matchups are currently the Canucks VS Blues, Flames VS Stars, Avalanche VS Coyotes, Blackhawks VS Golden Knights, Blue Jackets VS Lightning, Habs VS Flyers, Bruins VS Hurricanes, and Islanders VS Capitals.
The eliminated teams of the 2020 NHL Playoffs from the qualifying play-in series are the Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Florida Panthers.
If a trade can be pulled off, there are a handful of teams that the Bruins would be allowed to trade Tuukka Rask to. A potential trade could involve some draft picks at the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, maybe within the later rounds.
The current NHL rankings for the 2020 NHL Draft go as follows:
1st) New York Rangers
2nd) Los Angeles Kings
3rd) Ottawa Senators (via San Jose Sharks)
4th) Detroit Red Wings
5th) Ottawa Senators
6th) Anaheim Ducks
7th) New Jersey Devils
8th) Buffalo Sabres
9th) Minnesota Wild
10th) Winnipeg Jets
11th) Nashville Predators
12th) Florida Panthers
13th) Carolina Hurricanes (Toronto Maple Leafs)
14th) Edmonton Oilers
15th) Pittsburgh Penguins
The draft is stacked with guys like Alexis Lafrenière at the top, with Quinton Byfield, Tim Stützle, Lucas Raymond, Alexander Holtz, Jamie Drysdale, Marco Rossi, Cole Perfetti, Jake Sanderson, and Yaroslav Askarov rounding out the top 10. The rest of the draft has a ton of great talent as well, like Anton Lundell, Kaiden Guhle, Dawson Mercer, Braden Schneider, Dylan Holloway, Hendrix Lapierre, Connor Zary, Justin Barron, Jack Quinn, John-Jason Peterka, William Wallinder, Rodion Amirov, Jacob Perreault, Seth Jarvis, Ty Smilanic, Jeremie Poirer, Noel Gunler, Mavrik Bourque, Lukas Reichel, Tyler Kleven, Ridly Greig, Justin Sourdif, Shakir Mukhamadullin, Jake Neighbours, Luke Tuch, Helge Grans, Jan Mysak, Michael Benning, and Antonio Stranges.
